Protecting Our Environment Together
Eco Tech Pest Control is a trusted Pest Control Operator that specializes in the extermination of bed bugs in the Chicago area.
Chicago’s a transportation hub. You’ve got O’Hare, the CTA, Amtrak, and constant foot traffic from across the country and the world. Bed bugs hitch rides in luggage, clothing, and used furniture. They travel through hotels, apartments, and homes without anyone knowing until the itching starts. The city’s dense housing stock — especially older apartment buildings where walls and pipes connect units — makes containment nearly impossible once one unit gets infested. One traveler comes home from a hotel stay with bed bugs in their bag, and suddenly the whole building’s got a problem.
Our 6-month guarantee exists because we know what works. We combine heat treatment, chemical IPM, and rigorous follow-ups to eliminate bed bugs completely. If they come back within six months of treatment, we retreat at no charge. That guarantee is backed by 15+ years of Chicago-area experience and over 3,160 five-star reviews. We know this problem inside and out.
Heat Treatment: We raise your home’s temperature to 120–130°F for 4–8 hours. Bed bugs at every life stage — eggs, nymphs, adults — die at this temperature. There’s nowhere for them to hide. Heat reaches inside walls, furniture, and mattresses where chemical sprays can’t always penetrate. It’s thorough, it’s chemical-free, and it works fast. The downside? You’ll need to vacate for the day, and you can’t treat furniture this way if you want to keep it. Heat treatment is best for whole-home infestations or when you’re dealing with severe resistance.
Chemical IPM: Integrated Pest Management uses targeted applications of EPA-approved residual pesticides on mattress seams, box springs, baseboards, behind headboards, and other hiding spots. We don’t spray everything — we’re surgical about placement. Bed bugs hide in tight, sheltered spaces, so we focus there. It takes 10–14 days to see full results as bed bugs contact treated surfaces and die, but it’s less disruptive than heat and works well for isolated infestations or apartments where heat treatment isn’t practical.
Combination Approach: For heavy infestations or cases where bed bugs keep coming back, we combine methods. Maybe we heat-treat the bedroom, then use chemical treatment in adjacent rooms and common areas. Or we start with chemical treatment, monitor closely with follow-up inspections, and escalate to heat if needed. This multi-pronged strategy catches resistant populations and covers gaps heat alone might miss.
We guarantee that if bed bugs return to treated areas within six months of your service date, we’ll retreat your home at no charge. That’s it. No hidden conditions, no loopholes. This guarantee only works if you follow our prep instructions and don’t bring bed bugs back in from outside (like from infested furniture or luggage). It doesn’t cover new infestations from traveling or picking up bed bugs elsewhere — just re-infestation from our original treatment area.
We can offer this guarantee because our process works. Heat kills everything. Chemical treatment with proper follow-up catches survivors. We inspect 2–3 weeks after your initial treatment, and again at 6 weeks. If we find activity, we treat again immediately. This ongoing monitoring is why bed bugs don’t come back — we catch them early or eliminate them before they establish.
If you’re doing chemical IPM, we’ll spend 2–3 hours carefully inspecting and treating mattress seams, box springs, headboards, nightstands, baseboards, and any other furniture or areas where bed bugs hide. We won’t spray indiscriminately — every application is targeted. For heat treatment, technicians set up equipment and raise the home’s temperature slowly, maintaining it for several hours while monitoring. The process takes 6–8 hours total.
For chemical treatment, don’t vacuum, sweep, or wipe treated areas for at least 7 days. The residual works on contact, so give bed bugs time to encounter it and die. You can sleep in your bed the same night, but use a fresh, clean mattress cover or encasement if possible. For heat treatment, your home will be warm but safe to re-enter the same day — just let it cool first. You can sleep normally that night.
You’ll see dead bugs and reduced biting within 3–5 days for chemical treatment, or immediately for heat. Don’t be alarmed if you see a few live bugs for the first week — they’re dying. We’ll do a detailed follow-up inspection at 2–3 weeks to confirm elimination and treat any survivors if needed.
Apartments are trickier. Bed bugs spread through shared walls, electrical outlets, and plumbing. You can treat your unit perfectly, but if your neighbor’s infested and does nothing, bugs migrate back through the walls. This is why we always recommend informing your landlord and neighbors. Most leases make pest control the landlord’s responsibility — they’re legally required to coordinate treatment across units. In Chicago, landlords must provide pest-free housing, so don’t be shy about pushing for building-wide treatment if neighbors are involved.
Houses are more contained. Bed bugs live in your bedroom and maybe adjacent rooms, but they’re not traveling through shared structures. Treatment is simpler because you’re only dealing with your own home. The downside is that bed bugs in houses often get overlooked longer because families don’t realize neighbors are infested. If you’re seeing bites and don’t travel much, check used furniture or ask neighbors — it might not be your stuff.
Chemical treatment takes 2–4 hours on-site. Heat treatment takes 6–8 hours start to finish. Either way, the elimination process continues for days — it’s not instant. You’ll see results within 3–5 days of chemical treatment or immediately with heat. Full confirmation takes 2–3 weeks of monitoring.
Not usually. Mattresses can be treated and then sealed in a mattress encasement that traps any remaining bugs inside until they die (usually 6–12 months). Other furniture can be treated with chemical applications. Heat treatment works on furniture too if you’re using that method. Throwing away furniture should be a last resort — only if it’s heavily infested, damaged, or you can’t effectively treat it. We’ll advise based on what we find.
Yes, if we do it right. Eco Tech uses pet-safe products and methods. For chemical treatment, keep pets away for 4–6 hours while the application dries. For heat treatment, pets need to leave the home for the day. After that, it’s safe. Tell us upfront if you have pets — we’ll adjust our strategy and products to keep them protected.
Call us within six months and we’ll retreat at no charge. This only covers re-infestation from the original treatment area — not new bed bugs from traveling or bringing infested items into your home. We’ll inspect again, figure out why they survived, and adjust our approach. Most callbacks happen because prep wasn’t thorough enough or a neighbor’s unit re-infested an apartment. We’ll work through it.
Bed bugs don’t discriminate. You can pick them up from a nice hotel, a friend’s couch, used furniture, luggage, or — if you’re in an apartment — shared walls. They hitchhike in bags, clothing, and bedding. It’s not about cleanliness. Bed bugs are equal-opportunity pests. If you travel, stay in hotels, or buy used furniture, you’re at risk. Using mattress covers and checking hotel rooms before unpacking can help, but sometimes it just happens.
